Armory roundup

Post #1141 • March 14, 2008, 12:14 PM • 11 Comments

In lieu of a regular Friday roundup, I wanted to let folks know that I plan to be in New York for the Armory in a couple of weeks. The to-do list includes:

Well, I think I just hit impossible. What did I miss? Who wants to grab a coffee?

I do! Let me know your schedule, so that I can mark off time on my calendar. I'm up for accompanying you to any of these events, since it's always more fun when I've got someone to grouse at.

Based upon your NYC itinerary I can see that not only are you an art gourmet, you're also something of a glutton for pain, Franklin.

I don't know, Franklin. That art bloggers meeting lists that Ed guy as a panelist, the one who was so eager to discourage us nasty Artblog types from commenting on his blog. I have a feeling you're not going to fit in too well.

Hey, I'm probably only going to do the Armory and Pulse (my pain threshhold is not as high as it used to be), but I'd go for coffee sometime. I could tag along with you and PL for a get-together unless you have confidential blogger business to discuss. I promise I won't get drunk like I did last time (although PL assures me that it wasn't noticeable). Those mojitos were strong!

And Jack, don't worry. Franklin will have back-up should he be challenged to a duel. JOKING! Honestly, Ed is one of the nicest guys you could hope to meet in the NY art world.

This has nothing to do with anything artbloggish but if any of you have any savings keep them in cash or government securities. We are in for a wild ride, and it won't be pretty. Be safe.

Bear Stearns, an 85-year-old major Wall St banking firm, would be bankrupt now without the propping up it is getting from Morgan & others. This is just the latest and scariest item. It certainly looks like the melt is starting. Take a look at the financial pages and decide for yourself.

Regarding the wild ride, JL linked to this interesting piece by Mark Thoma.

you have to stop by and visit our booth at the Pulse Art Fair, Franklin. We're featuring a buffet of conceptualist works, so bring your reading glasses. And a flask!

I wouldn't bother with reading glasses, Franklin, but some booze might prove tolerably palliative.
