For Crying Out Loud: Somebody hit ArtsJournal with a denial of service attack. Listen, jerknuts, go bother Microsoft or the IRS or something. Sheesh.
Vegan Update 1: a remarkably effective peanut sauce adapted from a recipe on the lid of a jar of Smucker’s. Combine 1/3 c. peanut butter, 2/3 c. water, honey (which may not be vegan, but I feel bad throwing it away), lemon juice, 1 clove garlic, and soy sauce in a saucepan and heat. Serve over noodles and tofu.
Vegan Update 2: invented while jonesing for a chai. Combine two parts black tea, one part soymilk, and a generous splash of maple syrup in a cup for a delightful late-afternoon pick-me-up. Two of these babies around 5 pm will keep you blogging until 2 am. Against your will.
Vegan Update 3: “It’s true that piglets are castrated with no anesthetic, but researchers haven’t yet determined whether the process is painful,”according to Anna Johnson, director of animal welfare [Editor’s note – Say what?] at the National Pork Board. From Moby.

Blog Alert 4: Also on About Last Night, solicitations for a euphonic substitute for ‘blog’. I like the word ‘blog’. It sounds virile in an Anglo-Saxonish way. Ediary? Idiary? Enchaineton, for Pete’s sake? Feh. Blog, blog, blog, blog, blog.
Blog Alert 5: Elena Karo’s Pretty Serendipities is one of the stronger new citizens in Artblogistan. It’s also the first Blogspot blog I’ve seen that looks halfway decent. Thank you Modern Art Notes, which will be moving to TypePad soon.
UPDATE - Blog Alerts 6 – 8: Out of Lascaux is veritable Artblogistan nobility. It yeilds up A.C. Douglas, another one of these people who can write intelligently about the entire gamut of creative production (note to self: learn music, architecture, great fiction, dance, theater, etc., etc.). Artblog.net was blogrolled by Bloggy, political, leftist, queer, hilarious, cutting, and well worth a visit. Links on artblog.net are due for a heavy update.
