Heads up

Our itinerary after rolling out of Edmonton last week:

Saskatoon, SK, where we brought one of the dogs into an emergency clinic at the University of Saskatchewan for a urinary tract infection (he's fine now), and had an eminently enjoyable visit to the studio of Terry Fenton.

Manitou Beach, SK, where we lay in the healing, high-specific-gravity, yellow-brown golden waters.

Brandon, MB, where we slept.

Devil's Lake, ND, where the alternator croaked. We highly recommend Big Al's auto repair in Devil's Lake; we can't bring ourselves to recommend Devil's Lake itself. Big Al has a daughter who is a promising painter in...

...tiny little Hewitt, MN, where she and her husband have recently moved into an old Rebekah's hall (the Rebekahs are the ladies' wing of the International Order of Odd Fellows) to make art and music.

St. Paul, MN, after a jaunt through the Walker and Minneapolis Institute of Art. My old friend from grad school, John McCaffrey, came out to meet us. We hadn't seen each other in fourteen years.

And here we are in Hudson, WI catching up on the Internuts.

We're having a hell of a good time, taking in the landscape, meeting great people, seeing wonderful cities we've never seen before. The USA is just loaded with lovely places. Supergirl and I just figured out that we have seen, at the same time, thirty-two states out of the fifty, which is pretty good for one year of marriage. And more to come! (States, and years of marriage. This latter item is signficant because we've been on the road for 42 days straight and we're still quite fond of each other.)

In the meantime we're plotting for the future. World takeover is on the list, of course, but more immediately I have some reviews for you. Tomorrow I post the letter of comment that Vue Magazine refused to print. Monday I'll review Face the Nation at the Art Gallery of Alberta, Tuesday I'll post on the Durer print show at same, Wednesday will be Peter Hide at the Royal Alberta Museum, Thursday I'll drive a stake through Richard Prince at the Walker, and by Friday I hope to bring you a little action from Chicago. So stay tuned, and keep doing your thing as well as you can do it.

I was worried that you guys had disappeared forever over the edge of the world, otherwise known as Saskatchewan.

Reminds me of that wonderful Gahan Wilson cartoon where 2 guys get out of their car and one of them peers over the edge of the earth while the other says "The maps ends here, too".

Somehow, I doubt either Richard Prince or Face the Nation merited your attention... oh, wait, you did say "drive a stake", didn't you... I suspect they do deserve at least that...
