For Franklin:

Ambitious and prodigious I insist upon thyself;
But thy works they speak to me so much the more obverse.
Good things attempted some achieved all as there was none else,
Creative acts accumulate until there's good to name.

Some few yet do appreciate good ways good things get done,
And few of those remember why time trying is required.
Thus I fear this modern league might leave me far behind:
Waylaid by average obligates, regrettable excuse.

But wasted time or talent aren't worth a breath expent,
Because the cause of Great will not be budged by mere behest.
No rationale can stanchion art that's seen to emit worth,
All literary argument can do is point it out.

By trying verse I'm sure to prove how much I envy just
A fraction of thy polyform degree of excellence.
